Commemorating 1000 days since Raba’a Massacre: Remembering the killing and burning of peaceful protestors

A 1000 days ago, the most heinous crime in Egypt’s modern history was committed when thousands of innocent civilians were killed during a peaceful sit-in, in cold blood, in what later came to be known as the Raba’a and Nahda Massacres; massacres that took place as the world watched in silence.

The Egyptian Revolutionary Council (ERC) commemorates the men and women who sacrificed their lives for their country to gain democracy. The ERC reassures all Egyptians that it is committed to bringing to justice all those responsible for the horrendous massacres and all the crimes committed by the military dictatorship post the 3rd of July, 2013 military coup.

On this occasion, the ERC calls on all those in the United Kingdom who believe in the right to freedom for the peoples of the Middle East and who are opposed to military dictatorship and fascism to take part in a demonstration in Marble Arch, London, where a 1000 yellow balloons will be released into the air at exactly 4:00 PM (GMT+1). The demonstration will take place on Sunday the 15th of May, 2016 between 3:00 PM and 5:00 PM (GMT+1).
