In the memory of, and commitment to, those who have been murdered and injured, the suffering of imprisoned women and men and for our belief in the right of the Egyptian people to “bread, freedom, social justice and dignity”, and supporting our people’s January 25th Revolution, which continues till today, and to our people’s steadfastness in confronting the oppressive military coup, we, Egyptians abroad, the sons and daughters of the January 25th Revolution declare the establishment of the Egyptian Revolutionary Council (ERC).
The Egyptian Revolutionary Council is an entity for Egyptian political forces and individuals outside Egypt from across the political and ideological spectrum who adhere to the principles of the January 25th revolution and who are working to achieve its goals and who are resisting all forms of corruption, tyranny and who oppose the military coup and its outcomes. The Egyptian Revolutionary Council refuses the involvement of the military establishment in politics and believes in constitutional legitimacy and aims for the establishment of a civil state through which the free will of the people, and their right to chose who rules them, is reflected.
We therefore declare to the Egyptian people the establishment of this council in support of the popular resistance affirming that we are not an alternative to the popular resistance inside Egypt which we fully support.
We also affirm the determination of the Egyptian people to achieve freedom, dignity and justice committed to its basic rights to choose their leaders as representative of the popular will. We will increase our efforts on the international stage on all levels, in particular the political, legal and human rights level as well as in the media in order to mobilize the necessary support for the revolution so as to resist the military regime and its repressive measures, and we will work for the dismantling of the corrupt state and the restoration of constitutional legitimacy.
We also affirm respect for the popular will and legitimacy after January 25thRevolution and before the coup. We further affirm the revolutionary legitimacy will be the primary source of all policies and procedures which will be taken after the fall of the coup and against the counter revolution.
We call on all patriots inside and outside Egypt to gather around the revolution and its ideals and to unify all efforts to confront the counter revolution and its military coup.
Furthermore, we call on all governments and citizens throughout the world who uphold and defend the rights of people to support our cause of freedom, justice and human rights in Egypt.
We call on all patriots to join and support us in the realization of the following aims:
- Uniting all revolutionary forces and youths who are opposed to the military regime. And to overcome the past differences and build a new joint vision for the future.
- Mobolizing international support for the 25th January Revolution, and the right of the Egyptian people to establish a civil and constitutional state.
- The realization of the aims of the 25th January Revolution through a comprehensive transitional political process.
- Planning the process of dismantling the different corrupt institutions and the foundations of the deep state and rebuilding the state institution on the basis of transparency and the rule of law.
- Establishing equal citizenship, justice, freedom and human dignity.
The council will take up its duties through the following offices and portfolios:
- A political bureau that oversees political aspects of the council, matters of communications and international relations with all governments, parliaments and civil society organizations.
- Legal and human rights bureau that oversees the documentation of crimes and violations under the military coup regime and which communicates with legal and human rights entities to pursue those who committed such crimes and violations in front of internal and regional courts.
- Media bureau that communicates with media outlets through detailed strategies that would ensure conveying the council’s message and work and ensure support for the resistance of corrupt and tyrannical states worldwide.
Forming these bureaus is underway as we finalize the formation of the revolutionary council. The executive committee has been allocated the responsibility to communicate with all other groups and individuals to invite them to participate in fulfilling the aims of the council.
The revolutionary and national forces, a year after the situation was exposed, are capable of confronting the bloody terrorist coup which stole the people’s revolution, killed and imprisoned it’s people, sold our country, spread destruction and fear throughout the land and kidnapped Dr. Mohamed Morsi, Egypt’s first democratically elected president.
Finally, the Egyptian Revolutionary Council asserts the right of all Egyptians to refuse tyranny, injustice and the terrorism, carried out by the military state, and their right in popular resistance against the military rule and in putting to trial the killers and criminals through pursuing the justice for the martyrs and victims.
We shall continue until the aims of the revolution are realised.
